Good morning, Observers! The damage to the egg appeared 5-7 days before hatching. I intuitively know that this is too long for the embryo to survive. It would not have the strength to break the eggshell or raise its head to feed. The defects in the eggs (thin shell) can be explained by calcium metabolism disorders caused by pesticide poisoning. Perhaps there is another factor that disrupts calcium metabolism, I will look into it. It is better that the baby did not hatch, because the little eaglet could also have defects.

Yes, really, a difficult season…and a sad one. And you can see just how hard eagles and other birds of prey have to struggle. You see what you really don’t want to see. But it’s real…and it hurts every single time. You never get used to it. (And there’s something good about that, too…) It was also strange that the second egg broke here. Maybe the shell isn’t strong enough…But this little one almost made it…oh gosh…

In reply to One. I see it. It's unfortunate if it is a hole or some kind of breach because it's too soon for the egg to hatch. This season, 2026, has been difficult and not at all ideal at many of the nests I watch.
