Oh my goodness ~ absolutely stunning and beautiful.
I wonder what happened to the eggs, could they be completely gone like that in such a short time. Some non-viable eggs stay on nest for quite a while. 🤷‍♀️

Yw, Denise. I agree…I, too, had been hoping so much. The whole matter is inexplicable. Maybe someone stole the eggs and ate them. Maybe the neighboring owls…😔

You're welcome, AM! Yes, it is and remains sad. Maybe UFOs' relatively advanced age really is the reason why the eggs aren't fertile. That's too bad for them…and for us, too, because this cam is the only one at a CE nest. But what matters most to me is that the two of them are doing well. Fortunately, animals “forget” more quickly, so UFO might have gotten over the disappointment long ago and be living a “normal life” again. I hope this for both of them!

Thanks Ryn for posting this. I am afraid that they may abandon this nest due to its unproductivity and perhaps insecurity. Let's hope not. The other issue is UFO is no spring chicken, she is getting on in age, so not sure how viable she will continue to be. As I said before, I continue to hope.

Well, it sounds like her tracking device is working so we hope the best for them, as well as seeing if they are there next season. I wonder if those could have been EG eggs again and they hatched weeks ago. I thought CE only laid eggs every 2 years. I was surprised she laid eggs again this year. Any insights?
